The Edited Bible
Has your Bible been edited?

I was reading the Book of Jude in the New Testament and I realized the the writer of the Book of Jude was referring to the writings of Enoch and the bible does not contain any writings about Enoch. Now the Book of Jude is only one chapter long so go ahead and get yourself a bible and read away, you will quickly see what I am referring to.
 
I knew that there was a Book of Enoch that was not included in the bible and to me these scriptures in the book of Jude justified reading it. I wondered what other books might not be included in the bible that would be worth reading?

As I read the Old Testament I found other books referred to that were not included in the bible itself.

Book of Shemaiah - 2 Chronicles 12:15
Book of Iddo ther Seer - 2 Chronicles 12:15
The Book of the Wars of the Lord - Numbers 21:14
Book of Jasher - Joshua 10:13

These are some that I found, I am sure there are problably more.
 
Where are these books?

We know that the Hebrew scholars edited the Old Testament, they have openly admitted to removing the name of God from it's pages. They have said that it is to "Holy" to be spoken. In fact they have not spoken it for so long that no one is alive that really knows for sure how to pronounce it.
 
The New Testament was put together by a group of men sitting around a table deciding what was holy and inspired and what was not. Think about it? Men make mistakes, some things were left out. My point is this, "Some of those other books are worth reading". It is not a sin to read them. There are churches and people that will tell you not to but these same people buy every new book that comes off the presses. Is there any real differance?

If the bible mentions these other books then maybe we should be reading them.

The bible has mistakes in it! Oh yes! Please be honest, it was not origionally written in English. When it was translated sometimes a decision had to be made as to what the origional writers meant. You and I know that sometimes a word can mean to differant things. So the translaters did the best they could but mistakes were made. Why else do the preachers always go to the Greek and the Hebrew when preparing their sermons? It is because they know about translational errors.

When reading the Bible please be honest with yourself, be open minded. If you were reading it for the first time without someone else's idea of what it says or what it means then what would you see in it or get from it? Put what you think you know out of your mind and just read it like you never saw it before. You will be surprised at how this will bring out "Truth".
